Your wisdom teeth are the last ones to come in. In fact, these late bloomers usually don’t even show up until you’re between 17 to 25 years old. When a wisdom tooth doesn’t have the room it needs to come in as it should, that’s known as an impacted wisdom tooth. And that can lead to big problems.

Complications of an Impacted Wisdom Tooth

An impacted wisdom tooth can tilt or twist, or even become displaced. This can lead to issues such as bleeding gums, swollen gums, a swollen jaw and intense plain. Some people with this problem have a hard time tasting what they eat and have bad breath. In some cases, an impacted wisdom tooth can lead to jaw stiffness.

This is an issue that will always require a trip to the dentist. If you let this go untreated, you might be at a high risk for tooth decay or gum disease. Infections can set in, and your other teeth can suffer serious damage.

Please don’t let this happen to you. If you have any reason to believe that you have an impacted wisdom tooth, please contact Spring Cypress Dental as soon as you can. Setting an appointment is easy.
